What are Bilingual Classes?
Bilingual classes go beyond simply teaching a second language; they integrate language learning with other subjects, such as math, science, and history, allowing students to use the new language as a tool to understand and explore the world around them. Unlike language classes, which focus on developing language skills in isolation, bilingual classes insert the foreign language into the context of the curriculum, creating an environment of linguistic immersion.
In this model, the foreign language is not just an object of study, but the means by which students access and construct knowledge in various areas. This approach is especially effective because it promotes the practical and functional use of the language, helping students develop fluency in a natural and contextualized way.
In Brazil, bilingual classes align with the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) by incorporating the content and skills required by Brazilian education, but delivered in a bilingual format. In this way, students not only meet the educational objectives defined by the BNCC, but also acquire linguistic competence in another language, preparing them to face the challenges of an increasingly globalized world.
Methodology and Materials
In our bilingual program, the methodology combines playful, communicative and interactive approaches to promote the practical use of the foreign language in real contexts, integrating learning into the academic curriculum. We use a variety of up-to-date materials, such as textbooks, digital resources, videos and games, which help develop linguistic and cultural skills.

Applied Methodologies
NatGeo Learning
National Geographic Learning’s mission is to bring the world into the classroom and the classroom to life. Our English programs teach students about their world by experiencing it. Through our partnerships with National Geographic and TED, they develop the language and skills they need to be successful global citizens and leaders.
CLIL - Cambridge
The CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) approach integrates academic content teaching with foreign language learning, using language as a medium to teach subjects such as science and history. Students learn curriculum content and develop language skills simultaneously, applying the language in real, meaningful contexts. This results in deeper learning that also strengthens critical thinking and cultural understanding.
STEAM - Education
The STEAM methodology, which integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics, is an innovative educational approach that we apply in our bilingual classes. Instead of teaching these subjects in isolation, STEAM combines them to solve real problems and develop creative projects.
In English classes, STEAM is applied by connecting language learning with hands-on, interdisciplinary projects. For example, students might work on an engineering project where they have to plan, build, and describe their ideas in English. This approach makes language learning more relevant and engaging, while also encouraging critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity. Through STEAM, students not only learn English, but also apply their language skills in real-world contexts, preparing them for future challenges.
NatGeo Learning Material
In the bilingual program, we use National Geographic Learning materials, known for their quality and global relevance. These books provide engaging and authentic content, combining stunning images and informative texts that connect language learning to cultural, scientific and environmental themes. Through these resources, students explore the world in a dynamic way, developing their language skills while expanding their understanding of diverse cultures and areas of knowledge.
BEYOND TEACHERS
The teachers in the bilingual program are the cornerstone of successful English language instruction. Each of them brings a unique combination of experience, dedication, and passion for teaching, which is directly reflected in the quality of the classes and the development of the students. They are highly qualified professionals, many with international experience and recognized certifications, who not only master the language, but also deeply understand the cultural and pedagogical nuances necessary to provide an excellent bilingual education.
These professionals go beyond simply teaching English; they inspire, motivate, and create a learning environment that is both challenging and welcoming. The care and respect they show toward students strengthens the teacher-student relationship, fostering a safe space for learning and personal growth.
